SolevWeddings is a Bridal and Wedding Photography business run by me, Luben Solev. I concentrate on photographing weddings in and around Reading, Berkshire, but am happy to travel much further afield if required.

I have over 20 years experience in photography including Corporate Portraiture and Landscapes. I established SolevWeddings in 2008 to bring a fresh, modern and friendly approach to the local wedding photography market.

How I Work

The below guide takes you through the journey that all of my clients go through from initial engagement through to receiving your images. I'm publishing it here for you to get an idea as to how I work and what you can expect if you sign up with me.

Before you sign up with me

I will try, if at all possible, to hold a free, no obligation meeting in the comfort of your own home. This allows us to get to know each other (getting on with your wedding photographer is vital to looking relaxed and natural in front of the camera) as well as giving you the opportunity to discuss which package will be right for you.

Other benefits of meeting face-to-face include the ability to see the quality of my images in print and get advice on running a stress free wedding thrown in for good measure.

Let me repeat that there are no expectations for you to make any decisions at that meeting.

Immediately after you sign up

If you do decide to entrust the photography of your special day to me, I'll immediately draw up contracts, which are signed by both you and I and each of us keeps a copy. Together with a 25% deposit, this then exclusively reserves my services for that date. Note that I will never do two weddings in a day, irrespective of the booking length, so you know that you will have my undivided attention.

Between sign-up and 1 month before wedding day

On the surface, nothing needs to happen until around 1 month prior to the wedding day. You can of course contact me at any time to ask questions or share your ideas for the big day. In fact, I encourage my brides and grooms to get involved in the process, as I always get the best results when they are fully engaged.

I will use this time to visit your wedding venue(s) in order to familiarise myself with them and scout out some good indoor and outdoor locations.

One month before the wedding day

The next time you will see me face-to-face is around 1 month prior to the wedding day.

By this time, you should have the schedule of events nailed down, which means that we'll be able to discuss exactly when during the day we can schedule the different types of photography you'll want captured.

We'll also discuss what if any group photos you want to have captured and talk about some of the photography set-ups that form part of a traditional wedding day. I'm thinking of things such as throwing the bouquet, reception line, arriving or leaving the church in an adorned car, speeches, cake cutting, first dance and many others. At this point the remaining 75% of the package fee is due.

On the big day itself

I always aim to get to the first venue at least 1 hour before the booking starts. This extra time is not charged by me. It simply a safety net allowing for bad traffic and dealing with other unforeseen eventualities at the venue itself.

I actively encourage my bride and groom to be forthright in coming over during the day and asking me to capture specific images. I am, after all, yours for the length of your booking, and thus I want you to get the most value possible. So feel free to grab me at any time to take a photo with your school friends or distant relatives! I'll be more than happy to oblige.

After the wedding

I aim to process all of photos within two weeks of the wedding taking place. I will place all the processed images for your review into a private password protected online gallery.

You can then select the images you want from the comfort of your home and I send them to you on a memory stick in web and print resolutions. You can use web resolution images to share with friends and family via email and social media, whilst print resolution images can be taken to a high street or online photographic lap for processing into anything from prints to canvasses, poster and even mugs :-)

If after seeing the photos you’d like a photo book, you can contact me. Because photo books are not part of the packages, you have the flexibility to decide whether you want a photo book once you have seen the images.  I take up to 2 months to produce a photo book for clients from which 2 to 3 weeks are taken up with the printing and delivery process.
